Getting Started

Here's exactly what to expect from your first contact to your child's first session.

How It Works

01

Initial Consultation

Start by submitting a contact form. I will reach out to answer any questions or schedule a complimentary 15-minute phone call where we can talk through your concerns, answer questions, and decide if an evaluation is the next best step.

02

Scheduling & Intake

We find a time that works for your family. You'll complete intake paperwork before the first visit.

03

Evaluation

A comprehensive evaluation (60–90 minutes) is conducted at home or school. You'll receive a written report with findings and recommendations, and we will meet to discuss findings and a plan of care for your child.

Is an evaluation needed?

Yes — an evaluation is required unless your child has had a comprehensive speech-language evaluation completed by a licensed speech-language pathologist within the last six months. Please provide a copy of the most recent assessment report and any relevant treatment notes (including a school-based IEP, if applicable) for review. If your child was recently screened by me at school, a full evaluation may not be necessary, as I may already have sufficient information to guide the next steps.

04

Ongoing Therapy

We schedule regular sessions where your child's individualized plan of care is implemented. You're involved every step of the way, with home practice strategies and a summary of our session after each visit.

Private Pay

Paper Kite Speech Therapy is a private-pay practice and does not currently accept insurance. A detailed superbill will be provided for services, which families may submit directly to their insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage and reimbursement vary by insurance plan, so families are encouraged to contact their provider to learn more about their specific out-of-network benefits.
